Creative game-design

Battle “Creative Game Design” will allow you to try your hand at game design, regardless of your level of preparation. You will have 3 hours to solve a number of tasks that will represent the real problems that the game designer encounters during the creative process of creating the game. Sergey will evaluate each work and, if desired, personally comment and discuss the pros and cons of your approach. A novice game designer will be able to get real experience and valuable advice, and participants with experience will expand their horizons and get acquainted with other people’s techniques.

Technical game-design

The battle on technical game-design is a number of math problems within the game development area. Problems on balance calculation, counterbalance of character characteristics, calculation of game difficulty – we will work on mentioned and other similar problems. Battle shall be interesting for both – working professionals and technical universities students – having a good base they will also have a chance to win the first place.

Narrative design

Video games provide a unique opportunity to survive history as an active participant, not a passive viewer or reader. But if you decide to come up with and embody stories in this type of media, you will have to accept its specific laws. Battle by narrative design will test your writing skills: the ability to write accurately, concisely, unusually, given the nuances of different genres and audiences

Character Modelling

3D characters sculpting is our passion, our favorite thing, our hobby, our everything! This can be done endlessly, forgetting about friends, family and even food! Occupation, which has no limit of self-development and self-improvement. This is what brings us joy, and this battle will be in the same format, to get the enjoyment, and for some even a valuable reward for for time spent!
Rules of competition are very simple, there is no style limitations, no specific task, but you need to create an completely organic character (without hard surface), whether it is real or fantastic monster, whole body or only the bust, by the end of the allotted time. It can be in color or not. The work will be judged by the originality of ideas, form, silhouette, anatomy, details. The character must have an interesting pose or facial expression, even if it’s just a bust. Render in Zbrush or Keyshot, with post-processing of Photoshop, but without overpaint.

VISUAL DEVELOPMENT BATTLE

Battle Master – Roman Guro – In the gaming industry since 2001. Since 2010, the presenter of the online course in Drawing and Digital Painting and the course of Concept Art (GUROED.COM)

Which artist does not like to draw characters? However, in our time it is not enough just to be able to draw well. Style, character, and history are important too. Therefore, I invite you to the Visual Development Battle, where for three hours we will pump our “styling muscles.”
The battle is conditionally divided into three parts. The first 40 minutes the Battle Master will share his experience, introduce you to his approaches and methods.How to work with the stylization of people, what to look for. In the second part, master will take to you random tasks for styling characters. Everyone will need to create an character based on the task within one and a half hours. Also you to come up with a story of a character, the meaning of its existence, recognition, and above all to show it visually. The last hour we will allocate for the analysis, discussion of the work and advice of the Battle Master. Come to compete, learn something new, win prizes in the end! And may the force be with you!

Environment Painting

At ENVIRONMENT PAINTING art-battle you get a task to create an atmospheric environment in a particular setting. The setting is given by an expert battle-master. You get the setting, pick the references, and in the next 4 hours create a concept, and then turn in your work to battle-master. ENVIRONMENT PAINTING is a great opportunity to train your skills, to see how colleagues work, and to receive comments from the cool professional, as well as win valuable prizes.
